Double Degree Program

APU has an Undergraduate Dual Degree Program with St. Edward's University (USA) and Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (Austria). Through this program, students may receive two degrees: one from APU and one from a host university. Participating students need only pay tuition fees to APU. Credit transfer will be conducted according to each university’s regulations. Time and content of the program differ from each university.

  • Applicants:
    1) First-year undergraduate students enrolled in 2018 Fall semester (excluding American students)
    2) Possible APU students enrolled as first-year undergraduate students in 2019 Spring semester (excluding American students)
  • College: College of Asia Pacific Studies only
  • Language-Basis: Japanese-basis, English-basis
  • Domestic/International: Domestic students, International students
  • GPA: (Current students only) Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. (It means that GPA of 2017 fall semester must be 3.00 or higher)
  • Language Proficiency:
    (by the time of departure) A TOEFL iBT score of 79 or a TOEFL PBT (or ITP) score of at least 550 or IELTS 6.0
    (at the time of application) A TOEFL iBT score of 71 or a TOEFL PBT (or ITP) score of at least 525 or IELTS 5.5, TOEIC 700, STEP pre-level 1
  • The number of students to be sent to SEU: Up to 5 students
  • Period of studying at SEU: August 2019 ~ May 2021
    (2018 Fall enrolled students: from the 3rd semester to the 1st quarter of the 6th semester)
    (2019 Spring enrolled students: from the 2nd semester to the 1st quarter of the 5th semester)
How to Apply

Please read the application information and the following instructions carefully and complete the online application. Your application will be accepted upon completion of the following steps. Incomplete applications will be automatically rejected. If you complete the online application more than once, the last data will be accepted.

Step 1 : Prepare ①Copy of English Proficiency Score and ②a digital ID photo ③Statement of Financial Support (PDF).

1- Copy of English Proficiency Score (TOEFL/IELTS etc.)

  • Please prepare the scanned data, or photo data (PDF, JPG file etc.). You will be asked to upload the data while completing the online application.
  • You are requested to submit a copy of English Proficiency score after selected. Keep the original of your score with you.

2- Digital ID Photo

You will be asked to upload a photo at the end of your online application. You should be facing forward and must not be wearing any hat, mask or sunglasses. A photo taken within the past six months is preferable. The file name for the photo must have your name. It must exactly match the format of this example file name:

3- Statement of Financial Support (PDF)

Please download the Statement of Financial Support from the above link. Please convert the form signed by your financial sponsor or an applicant into a PDF or JPG, and then upload the file.
- The file name must match this format, “Financial_Support_Student ID number_your name.”

Application Requirements
  • Applicants:Applicants must be first-year APS students who enrolled in 2018 spring semester (excluding Austrian students)
  • GPA:Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or higher.(GPA of 2017 spring semester also must be 2.80 or higher)
  • Language Proficiency:A TOEFL iBT score of 75 or a TOEFL PBT (or ITP) score of at least 537 or IELTS 6.0 or the equivalent English ability
  • Other:
    • Applicants are expected to complete all their mandatory language subjects before the start of their exchange.
    • Applicants are expected to acquire German language ability to the level of daily conversation before departure and keep up with German classes there.
    • As a preparation, applicants have to take necessary subjects designated by the university in the fall semester 2018(applicants will be instructed later).
    • Applicants are recommended to take the courses “Introduction to Tourism and Hospitality” and “Introduction to Economics” offered in English in their first semester after the enrollment.

Please ask your financial sponsor to download this form from the Academic Office website. Ask them to sign the form and then to send the original document to you. The “Statement of Financial Support” form that you submit must be the original document with the original signature of your financial sponsor. A scanned copy or fax will not be accepted. However, if you cannot submit the documents by the deadline, please consult the Academic Office.

②Copy of English Proficiency Score (TOEFL/IELTS)
Make sure to write your name and student ID on the back side of a copy of your score. Please do not submit the original of your score.
