Scholarship System for Study Abroad

Scholarships are provided by the Japanese government, foreign governments, and private organizations.

Use the information provided below to direct any inquiries you might have to the specific organization or the contact point for each specific scholarship.

1. Independent Administrative Institution Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)

  • MONTHLY STIPEND: ¥160 000, ¥120 000 (¥60 000) (depending on destination country/region, financial means)
  • STUDY ABROAD ARRANGEMENTS FUND (Overseas travel costs, fees for training before or after, etc.):
    ¥150 000, ¥250 000 (depending on region)
  • TUITION ¥300,000 (only for universities capable of awarding degrees in your specific field of study ; not applicable to study exchange program and language schools)
Study Abroad Period From 28 days up to 1 year

NOTE: For the “Regional Development Course”, the recruitment period and the nature of support depends on the region.
