Director, Media Resource Center
Rebecca Chunghee Kim is Director of the Media Resource Center at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University and Professor in the College of International Management. Previously, she taught at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Edinburgh in the fields of Business Ethics, Management of International Relationships, Management Across Cultures, International Human Resource Management, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), and more. She is currently supervising various dissertation projects at APU, and supervised projects at the University of Nottingham, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Strathclyde.
Prior to entering academia, Professor Kim worked in the fields of foreign diplomacy, government, NGO and CSR consulting as a professional of international relations for twelve years. Awarded the British-Chevening Scholarship to study in the UK during the final term of her MBA study at the Korea University Business School, she selected the MIM (Master of International Management) course at the University of Strathclyde for investigating the corporate social responsibility phenomena in international business. Based on the foundation of her MIM study, her pioneering PhD research on the link between the CSR and IHRM (International Human Resource Management) strategy of the UK and Korea was accomplished by award of full-time three-year scholarships.
Professor Kim is particularly interested in research on Asian CSR and CSV (Creating Shared Value) through active collaboration with scholars and practitioners around the globe. Her research interests also include: Missing employees in CSR discussion; Social Enterprise; Institutional dynamics of CSR in Asia; CSR/CSV comparative study between the West and East; and the teaching methods of Business Ethics. Rebecca has published or has forthcoming works in Social Sciences Citation Index journals such as Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of International Management, Asian Business & Management and Business Horizons. As a discussion-loving scholar, she has delivered speeches on Asian CSR and CSV across the world including Japan, Korea, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Mongolia.
