FUTURE VISIONARY VICE
PRESIDENT RECRUITMENT
Create what doesn't exist.
Make university
more interesting.

We live in a world without correct answers and a society where what is commonly accepted is always changing.
This is why we want to create the path we will take on our own.

Together, let's create what's missing. Let's create the place we want to go. APU is a stage from which we can change the world and get the world involved in what we do.

Let's make university a more interesting place for us.

MESSAGE
FROM
THE PRESIDENT

In order to become a better university, APU will respond to changes in both global and Japanese society, and under the banner of Leap Beyond Global, we aim to expand the global community that we have cultivated to date even further. APU's challenge is to become the ultimate place where diversity and inclusion (D&I) is embodied and practiced, and to do this, we will not only expand the APU community, we will expand the roles and functions of the university in cultivating life-long learners. Through these initiatives, APU will take on a new role as a hub for solving social issues by practicing D&I and providing unique education that only we can provide.

FAQ

Criteria to apply
Q.
Can a third-year high school student apply to become the future visionary vice president or a summit member?
A.
Unfortunately, as this is the first time for this program, it is not possible to participate due to the need to balance work with studies.
Q.
Is it necessary to attend an online briefing session when applying?
A.
not required.
Q.
Do you have opportunities to communicate with people from overseas?
A.
Yes, we also have interactions with current students of our school APU. In addition, if the future visionary vice president of high school student and the summit members deem it necessary, interviews, etc., can be held with overseas institutions as well.
Q.
I am studying abroad during the activity period of future visionary vice president, can I participate in the activity from overseas?
A.
Unfortunately, as this is the first time for this program, it is not possible to participate due to balancing work with school and time differences between Japan and where you go studying abroad.
How to apply
Q.
Is there any format specification for submitted videos?
A.
There are no specific requirement as long as you give answers to the questions. Clothes, appearance, slideshow format, etc. are free.
Q.
Is Japanese the only language used in the submitted video?
A.
We are assuming that the evaluation of application will be conducted mainly in Japanese, so Japanese is preferred, but English will not affect the evaluation or score.
Q.
If the length of the submitted video exceeds 3 minutes, will it be ineligible for evaluation?
A.
We want to listen to applicants' thoughts as concisely as possible, so there is no problem with slightly longer lengths, but lengths such as 4 minutes may make it difficult to select applicants.
Q.
Is it correct that the "university issues" in the question apply to “universities” in general, not just APU?
A.
Yes, that's right. we hope you can think of it in terms of the university you imagine.
Activities
Q.
What kind of people can I work with by participating in this program?
A.
You can work with members of the same generation from all over Japan. In addition, if the school's president/vice president, faculty, and current students deem it necessary, we can work with local governments, companies, and educational institutions nationwide.
Q.
Is it necessary for teachers to be the point of contact during online meetings and to attend meetings with students?
A.
This is a student-centered event, and as part of their activity policy, they would like to hold meetings solely with students. If so, we would appreciate it if you could respect that point.
Q.
What kind of support do you have for weekend gatherings in Tokyo? Do teachers need to lead the event? Or is it okay for the students to be accompanied by a guardian?
A.
Teacher supervision is not required. Although we are assuming that only the students will be attending, we are also aware of the concerns of their parents, so if parents deem that a companion is necessary, please bring them with you.
Q.
Do high school future visionary vice presidents and summit members only make recommendations on current issues of universities? Are there any plans to actually take any action?
A.
Depending on the proposal, there is a possibility that you will be involved in the actual implementation.
Q.
Is it possible to balance high school studies, club activities, other activities, etc. and work as a future visionary vice president/summit member?
A.
Possible. There is no need for you to give up on your existing plans or activities, so we will do our best to help you balance both activities of yours and future visionary vice president.
Q.
The activity theme mentions a comparison between APU and other universities, but is it aimed at domestic universities only?
A.
Including overseas universities. There is no need to be particular about Japanese universities.
System
Q.
How many summit members are there?
A.
We are considering the size of the members so that it is easy to work in small groups.
Q.
If I were to become the future visionary vice president of a high school student, would it be necessary to enroll in APU?
A.
Not required. It has nothing to do with the entrance exam to APU.
