for both Current and Former Students

I would like a certificate sent to me via email.

We are not allowed to send softcopies. All certificates will be delivered to you by post or be picked up at the office.

I would like a certificate sent to me quickly, as the deadline for submitting it is approaching.

Certificates cannot be issued on the same day. They are issued or posted two or three business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after applications have been received and any applicable fee have been paid.

*Please note certain certificates may take longer depending on their type. Also, it may take longer to issue and mail the certificate during the Golden Week holidays, summer holidays, and year-end and New Year holidays.

The certificate that I want to have issued is not among the ones that can be issued.

For information on forms designated by other institutions or other certificates that are not among the ones that can be issued, please consult with the Certificates Department at the Student Office in advance.

How many days does it take for a certificate to arrive when I will receive it by post?

Certificates are issued or posted two or three business days (excluding weekdays and holidays) after applications have been received and any applicable fee have been paid. The number of postal delivery days depends on the country and region.
Certificates sent out to destinations within Japan are mailed using Letter Pack Light. Please refer to the delivery information in the following link.

When the sending address for a certificate belongs to a family member or friend, do I need a letter of proxy?

No, you do not need a letter of proxy in such cases. However, you do need to submit a letter of proxy when someone is submitting an application on your behalf, or pick up your certificate at the office.

I need a certificate (Certificate of Enrollment, Transcript of Academic Record, etc.). What should I do?

Certificates can be issued using the automatic certificate dispensers located near the entrance to the Student Office and in the Library.

Please see below for information on operating hours of automatic certificate dispensers.

  • Building A, 1st floor (In front of the Student Office)
    Monday-Friday 8:45-18:00
  • APU Library
    Varies according to the time that the APU Library opens.

Certificates can also be issued using automatic certificate dispensers at the Tokyo Campus, Osaka Campus and Ritsumeikan University.

When can a certificate with the credits I earned this semester stated on it be issued?

Transcripts of Academic Record reflects your grades up to the prior semester. Your most recent Transcript of Academic Record will be issued after the next semester starts.

From when can a Certificate of Prospective Graduation be issued?

Students in their fourth or higher year who have fulfilled the prospective graduation assessment criteria can have a Certificate of Prospective Graduation issued starting from the below dates every year.

Spring Semester: Early April
Fall Semester: Early October

I lost my student ID card. Can I use the automatic certificate dispensers?

You cannot issue certificates using automatic certificate dispensers until you have your student ID card reissued.

Former Students

Is it possible to issue certificates using Automatic Issue Machines automatic certificate dispensers?

No, it is not. Only current students (regular enrolled and study abroad status) may use the automatic certificate dispensers.

I forgot my student ID number.

You do not need to write your student ID number if you are not sure.

I changed my name after graduating from APU. Can I have my certificate issued by my new name?

In principle, certificates are issued by the name at the time that you were enrolled at APU.
If you wish to change the name on a certificate due to changes made to your name or other circumstances, please refer to the Name Change on Certificates.
