On Friday, June 12, 2009, the "World Fashion Show 2009 - My Culture, My Voice" was held at the APU Millennium Hall as the opening event of the Multicultural Weeks.
This World Fashion Show 2009 was held for the first time this year by Multicultural Week student support volunteers and the Multicultural Week Advisory Team. The Multicultural Weeks are held annually at APU to introduce the language and culture of the students from 87 different countries and regions studying here.
Students from 17 countries and regions participated and presented fashion shows of a range of genre including traditional folk costumes and unique modern fashion. There were also performances of dance, song and recitals of student poetry. Furthermore, there were also segments from the Vietnam, Chinese, Indonesian, Thai and Korean Weeks which began on Monday, June 15 and which proved a hit with the crowd that packed into the Hall.
Looking back on the event, event planner and stage manager LEMMENYANE Tlotlo (APS, Botswana) said, "I am very happy we could put on such a wonderful event today. I hope that this event continues to be held at our unique APU".
We hope that the Multicultural Weeks coming up over the next month also prove to be a hit too.
