On Monday, November 30, 2009, Bangladesh Week – the first installment in the Fall semester Multicultural Weeks – got underway. Bangladesh Week will run until Friday, December 4.
Ninety seven countries and regions are represented at APU and every semester Multicultural Weeks are held to showcase many of these country/region's language and culture through a range of events planned by the student body. Now a regular event, this Multicultural Week will for the first time put the spotlight on Bangladesh. Not only Bangladesh, but also many students from a number of countries and regions are involved in the management of the program and are planning for a range of events.
The schedule for Bangladesh Week:
Monday, November 30 – Friday, December 4. 10:00-17:00 @ Cafeteria Corner Booth
• Displays and chance to wear folk costumes (photography ok)
• Tourist spot posters and pamphlet display
• Body painting experience
Monday, November 30. 17:00 – 18:30 @Cafeteria Special Stage
• Rock Concert (Bangladesh pop-music performance)
Tuesday, December 1. 10:35 – 17:35 @ special outdoor café in front of the main fountain
• Free Bangladesh tea tasting
Wednesday, December 2. 10:00 – 16:00 @Main ground
• Cricket Tournament (Play only for APU members; general public spectators ok)
Friday, December 4. 18:30 – 20:30 @APU Millennium Hall
• Grand Show (Fashion show, sword dance, traditional folk dances, and more)
Bangladesh Week marks the start of this semester's Multicultural Weeks. The following countries and regions will be spotlighted over the coming weeks until the end of January.
