On Friday, February 26, 2010, a joint workshop on trade logistics was held by APU and the Government of Tajikistan in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
Held in cooperation with APU and based on the JDS* Special Program, this workshop aimed to work towards solving some of the issues facing the Tajikistan Government. College of Asia Pacific Studies Professor TSUKADA Shunso and graduate students studying in the International Cooperation Program were dispatched by the Tajikistan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and attended the workshop which also welcomed over 60 participants including the Vice-Minister of the Tajikistan Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Transport and Communication, Ministry of Agriculture and representatives of key parties such as Tajikistan Railway, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, JICA and the European Union.
During the workshop discussions were held on the streamlining of Tajikistan international trade procedures. A number of themes of highest importance to the Tajikistan government were discussed during the four hour workshop.
This event received the attention of the local media and was reported on by local TV stations. From AY2010 onward, APU will continue to hold similar workshops and contribute to the solving of issues being faced by Tajikistan.
