On Wednesday, September 15, 2010, the Mayor of Iida City (Nagano Prefecture), Mitsuo MAKINO, visited APU and met with Vice-President HARATA Junichiro and faculty members engaged in field studies in Iida City.
Following the conclusion of a Friendship Agreement between Iida City and APU in July, 2005, students have taken part in field study and internship opportunities provided by Iida City and the two parties continue to engage in a range of initiatives.
During their meeting, Mayor MAKINO commented that, "Our exchange with APU was the catalyst for our field study programs which every year attract many participants from universities around Japan. I often bump into APU students and graduates in the most unexpected places and enjoy speaking and exchanging business cards with them".
Although his visit was short due to his official duties, the meeting proved to be a valuable opportunity for the two parties to exchange information and ideas, and to work towards securing further cooperation and collaboration.
