From Wednesday, May 13 until Friday, July 17, 2015, APU hosted 17 students from the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) on the Languages for Business and Technology (LBAT) Program. During their stay, the students took part in an intensive Japanese language and cultural experience program, which included Japanese company visits and homestays to help them gain an in-depth understanding of life and business in Japan. We spoke with one Georgia Tech student to hear about her experiences on the program.
I’ve been studying Japanese since junior high school and I’ve always been interested in Japan, so it was my dream for a long time to come to Japan. While I was on the LBAT Program, I learned a lot about Japanese culture and I think my Japanese skills improved as well. The student support staff were all very kind, and the homestay was fascinating and fun. The company visits were also very worthwhile experiences. I was especially impressed by the robots at Yaskawa Electric Corporation. The LBAT Program helped make my dream come true, so I am very glad I joined. I can’t wait until the next time I come back to Japan.
