Japan Sports Agency Chief Visits APU

On November 26, SUZUKI Daichi, the head of the Japan Sports Agency, visited APU. He was joined by WIJAYANAYAKE Sujeewa (College of Asia Pacific Studies, 2010, Sri Lanka), an APU graduate qualified as an international baseball referee. Mr. Wijayanayake has dedicated time to bring the sport of baseball to youths in Sri Lanka and Nepal. Both Mr. Suzuki and Mr. Wijayanayake came to APU to discuss the role of APU’s sports clubs and activities in spreading the APU spirit of mutual cooperation and understanding throughout the world.

Members from the APU baseball team showed Mr. Suzuki around campus. They also provided him with information regarding their exchange activities with a baseball team in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Suzuki won the gold medal in the 100 meter backstroke at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
