Notes from the President

New Year's Greetings from the President of APU

Jan 1, 2017

3rd President KORENAGA Shun

As we enter 2017, I would like to wish everyone a happy new year.

In this coming year we will enact much-discussed curriculum reforms here at APU, and we will also undergo our mid-term review for the Top Global University project. In 2016 we attained accreditation from AACSB International, which has enabled us to attain a higher level of cooperation with foreign universities. This certification of our business schools will also lead to further development of our graduate and undergraduate education. This is yet another step in our journey to become a top university in Asia.

It goes without saying that a university is a place of learning, and learning is in itself open to the world; a global effort to extend the wisdom and imagination of humankind. Our desire for the universal truth of freedom and humanity and attaining an understanding and acceptance of foreign cultures forms the framework for a pluralistic "global mind". Here at APU we develop students with this very mindset. It is my hope that we continue to nurture a strong will in others through our multilingual, multicultural melting pot, where we will continue to learn together as we cultivate a spirit of diversity and inclusion, overcoming egoism and ethnic discrimination.

May you all have a peaceful and prosperous year.
