RCAPS Seminar will be held on June 23rd (Thursday)
We are now in the face of the emergence of ubiquitous bio-political borders and the strengthening of border controls, despite the acceleration of economic globalization. Following the so-called war on terror, the securitization of migrant issues with racial profiling promotes a tendency of exclusionary politics of citizenship and new racism in advanced capitalist countries. However, more than tens of thousands of people are ready to risk their own life to cross borders between the Global North and the Global South. In this context, the mass media plays a crucial role to construct the image of the other. This seminar probes the possibilities of the emancipatory politics of 'those who have no part (Rancière)' in the neo-liberal global governance.
