Japanese foreign policy under the Kishida administration and security in the Indo-Pacific

On December 4th, RCAPS held a seminar welcoming Dr. Elena Atanassova-Cornelis, Professor at the University of Antwerp and Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium,
Japan Chair, International Center for Defence and Security (ICDS) in Tallinn, Estonia

The seminar discussed Japan’s active security diplomacy under Prime Minister Kishida. The speaker shed light on both continuity and new orientations by comparing with Kishida’s predecessor, Prime Minister Abe. Analysis of Japan-EU partnership as well as Japan’s relations with key individual European powers added insights of the Europe-based speaker.

The seminar was attended by a small number of highly enthusiastic audience, whose questions resulted in a very active discussion with the speaker.

The speaker has collaborated for various research and seminar activities with Professor Sato, and her connections have expanded to include his APU colleagues and graduate students as a result of this seminar event.
