From Monday, December 8, 2008, until Friday 19, two Local Body Officials and two staff members of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry took part in training at APU over about two weeks as part of the JICA sponsored ''One Village One Product Project in Savannakhet Province and Saravanne Province Seminar''.

In recent years in Japan, there has been an increasing interest in Islamic finance and Government financial authorities are aggressively introducing Islamic financial system・commodities.
However, with the outbreak of a worldwide, financial crisis, the Islamic financial market has also suffered a great blow.
It is now being asked why a system that is strong against financial crashes also suffer shrinkage together with the regular financial commodities.

Mass production and mass consumption have come to their limits and we are faced with an environmental crisis. Erosion and abnormal coastal weather phenomenon caused by global warming have increased and also, the effects of environmental pollution can be seen. These effects include: poor air and water quality; the ground pollution; excessive CO2 emissions caused by massive energy consumption; acid rain and photochemical smog in Asia. This has become a big problem for Japan.
Kyushu regional industries have accumulated technological know-how in anti-pollution, energy conservation and environmental recycling to combat these problems. Business development in these fields and international contribution is expected.
A delegation of 5 people from the Indonesian government, “Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal - BKPM (INDONESIA Investment Coordinating Board)”came to APU and 3 day training was conducted with the aim of training IT human resources.
From December 2 (Tuesday) to December 6, 2008 (Saturday), the trainees participated in lectures on "Management of Technology", "Information Network", "Software Engineering", "Multimedia and Interface Design", "e-Commerce & IT", "Data Mining", "Communications" and "Information Securities".
On Monday November 10 and Tuesday 11, 2008; 16 Malaysian public officials and regional high school staff came to APU for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) sponsored Community Employment Support training course which was held over the 2 days.
On Tuesday October 28, the Kingdom of Cambodia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Permanent Secretary Mr. Hor SOTHOUN visited APU as part of the JDS Monitoring Mission and sat down for a conversation with APU Vice President COOPER,M.J.M
On Monday October 13, 2008, Philippine local body officials such as local village, town and city mayors came to APU for the JICA sponsored Autonomous Region Cluster Activation Seminar and began their study which will take place over approximately 2 weeks.
On September 25, 2008 (Thursday) at the Oita City Industry Activation Plaza, the commencement of the FY 2008 Oita City Human Resources Training "Management of Technology Course" was held. This Course is a training which Oita City outsourced to APU, which organizes and coordinates the whole course, as well as sends out its lecturers to cooperate. The Course is now in its 3rd year after it was started in FY 2006.
The first course, entitled " What is Management of Technology? From the case of the Innovation of the Calculator", was held with Prof. NAKATA Yukihiko (Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University College of Asia Pacific Management) and Mr. SHUTOU Toshihisa (Former Director of Sharp Oita Technology Center) as lecturers, and was attended by 35 participants.
