From October 26 until November 6, thirteen public officers from Cambodia, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vietnam participated in a training course at APU, which had a theme of "Development and Promotion of Regional Industries Utilizing Local Resources for Asia." This training was commissioned by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and was held in cooperation with the NPO "Hatto Onpaku" (Beppu Hatto Hot Spring Expo).

From Monday, October 5 until Friday, October 16, 2009, eighteen public officials from Colombia, Ecuador and Peru participated in a two-week training course held at APU. The training course was titled "One Village One Product Movement for the Andes Region" and was commissioned to APU by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Kyushu Economic Research Center has announced that it will hold the "Dramatic! Kyushu's Economy in Oita", as part of its 60th anniversary.
At the event, the history and strength of Oita’s companies will be displayed through movies, pictures, and chronologies. On November 30, a panel discussion with economists and experts will consider the future of Oita, and also Dr. Jiho Han and APU students will share their impressions of Oita and Beppu’s appeal with an “Oita Tourism Session.” And on December 1, managers of venture companies and students will talk candidly about ways to stimulate Oita’s economy at a Venture Session called “Venture as a Way of Life.”

We hope to see the participation of many faculty members and students.

*Note: This event will be held only in Japanese.

Information on upcoming lecture by Richard B. Dasher (Director of U.S.-Asia Technology Management Center, Stanford University)

The Asia Pacific Innovation Management Center (AP-IMAC) at APU has a cooperative research agreement with the U.S.-Asia Technology Management Center at Stanford University. Dr. Richard B. Dasher, Director of the U.S.-Asia Technology Management Center and a Consulting Professor at Stanford, is scheduled to give a lecture during his upcoming trip to Oita. The details for the lecture are below.

Eight public officials from Chile participated in a three week training course held at APU from July 16 - August 5. This "Training Course in Enforcement of Regional Administrative Function for Local Industrial Promotion" was commissioned to APU by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and has been held at APU for two years now.
