On Tuesday, October 24th, 2017, APU held research compliance training (in conformance with applicable laws) for its faculty and staff with Norihiko Sannomiya, a certified public accountant/tax counselor, as lecturer.
Research compliance training aims to promote proper use of public research funds and is mandated by Japanese government guidelines. Beginning from AY2018, APU will require all applicants for research funding to attend compliance training.
Mr. Sannomiya explained the importance of compliance and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Guidelines on the Management and Audit of Public Research Funds at Research Institutions while introducing examples of actual misuse. At the end of the training, the attendees filled out a check sheet testing their comprehension of the material and submitted compliance pledges.
APU will continue promoting understanding of compliance among its researchers and staff and be diligent in maintaining its research compliance.
