Purpose

The purpose of the Grants-in-Aid Reapplication Type Academic Research Subsidy is to support faculty members who were unsuccessful in their Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research applications in pursuing their research projects while preparing for application in the following year.

Application Eligibility

  1. (1) Applicants must be full-time faculty members at APU (professors, associate professors, assistant professors, tenured senior lecturers, and lecturers, including fixed-term faculty members, specially-employed faculty members and continuously-employed faculty members)
  2. (2) Applicants must be eligible to apply for Grants-in-Aid in FY2020.
  3. (3) An applicant must be Principal Investigator on an unsuccessful FY2019 Grants-in-Aid application that received an A or B grade in the screening results.
*Grants-in-Aid Research Activity Start-up applicants are not eligible.

*Supplementary matters*
  1. (1) Applicants may submit one application for each Grant-in-Aid category.
  2. (2) Applicants may apply individually or as a group.
    APU faculty members other than the above-mentioned full-time faculty may be research group members. External researchers (including students in the APU doctoral program) may also be research group members.
    Applicants may change the organization of the research group from the research group listed on their Grants-in-Aid application but may not change the Principal Investigator.

In principle, applicants who meet the application requirements will receive a subsidy matching their application, within the above maximums.
*Depending on the number of acceptances, subsidy amounts may change.

Subsidy Period

April 1, 2019 (Mon) – Application deadline for AY2020 Grants-in-Aid (planned to be the end of October, 2019) *No extensions.

Distribution Schedule

Subsidies are scheduled to be distributed in early July 2019.
*When applicants for Scientific Research B (Generative Research Field), C (Generative Research Field) and Challenging Research (Exploratory, Pioneering) who are scheduled to receive the Grants-in-Aid screening result in July, 2019 apply for this subsidy after the release of the Grants-in-Aid screening result and such applications are accepted, the distribution schedule will be notified at a later date.

Requirements for Accepted Applications

  1. (1) Recipients must apply for Grants-in-Aid in fall 2019.
  2. (2) Recipients must submit a Research Outcome Report to the Dean of International Cooperation and Research within one month after the end of the subsidy period.
  3. (3) Recipients who publicize research results produced with the subsidy in a conference presentation or journal article must report this to the International Cooperation and Research Division through the Research Office. They should also acknowledge in the presentation or article that the research was supported by an Academic Research Subsidy.
  4. (4) Recipients must submit all publications related to research results produced with the subsidy to the Research Office.

*If a recipient fails to meet the above requirements, the International Cooperation and Research Division may stop their subsidy and demand the return of subsidy funds. In this case, the International Cooperation and Research Division may also suspend the recipient's eligibility for subsequent subsidy applications.

The international Cooperation and Research Division will hold some seminars and information sessions in preparation for application for Grants-in-Aid Scientific Research. Those who are granted Academic Research Subsidy (Grants-in-Aid Reapplication Type) are requested to actively attend these seminars and sessions.

Application Period

Acceptance of application begins after the release of the FY2019 Grants-in-Aid screening results. The Research Office will inform eligible applicants of the deadline at a later date.

*Please attach the PDF file of a copy of your screening results shown in the Grants-in-Aid Electronic Application System.

Purpose

The purpose of the Grants-in-Aid Preparation Type Academic Research Subsidy is to advance research activities at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University by supporting faculty members in attaining the Grants-in-Aid funding.

Application Eligibility

  1. (1) Applicants must be full-time faculty members at APU (professors, associate professors, assistant professors, tenured senior lecturers, and lecturers, including fixed-term faculty members, specially-employed faculty members and continuously-employed faculty members).
  2. (2) Applicants must be eligible to apply for Grants-in-Aid in FY2020.
  3. (3) Ritsumeikan Trust trustees, the Vice President and the Dean of the International Cooperation and Research Division, and the Director of RCAPS are not eligible for the subsidy (These executives also cannot participate in a research group funded by this subsidy).
*Supplementary matters*
  1. (1) The Grants-in-Aid program allows applicants to apply for multiple grants if applying in certain combinations of grant categories.
    (e.g. Scientific Research C (General) and Scientific Research C (Generative Research Field)
    Applicants may apply individually or as a group. APU faculty members other than the full-time faculty mentioned above may be research group members. External researchers (including students in the APU doctoral program) may also be research group members.

Subsidy Amount

Recipients (Individuals and group) may be subsidized exact amount up to ¥50,000.
*Depending on the number of acceptances, subsidy amounts may change.

Subsidy Period

April 1, 2019 (Mon) - Application deadline for AY2020 KAKENHI (planned to be the end of October, 2019)
*No extensions.

Distribution Schedule

Subsidies are scheduled to be distributed in early July 2019.
*When applicants for Scientific Research B (Generative Research Field), C (Generative Research Field) and Challenging Research (Exploratory, Pioneering) who are scheduled to receive the Grants-in Aid screening result in July, 2019 apply for this subsidy after the release of the Grants-in-Aid screening result and such applications are accepted, the distribution schedule will be notified at a later date.

(The eligible applicants will be respectively notified).

Purpose

“Special Research Support” provides principal researchers who are recipients of Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research with additional research funding to carry out KAKENHI research projects. Payment will be made as part of salary.

Eligibility

Applicants must be researchers receiving FY2019 Grants-in-Aid as principal researchers.
*In the event that the Grants-in Aid receipt period has been extended or carried over in the final year of funding, Special Research Support cannot be granted.
*See “Subsidy Payment” below regarding the Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research.

Following amounts will be granted per the receipt of each category of Grants-in-Aid.

- Selectees who have not yet made a grant application to the Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research Granted as part of salary soon after grant application is made
