On Sunday, November 27, 2011, a team of APU international students competing under the name “Baginga” claimed the runner-up prize at the CAT-G Business Game Contest Qualifying Tournament, hosted by the Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited. The runner-up prize winning APU team included SKOLASTIKA (APM4, Indonesia), PHAM Le Hong Phuc (APM4, Vietnam), OVERNES Havard (APM4, Norway), and ZHANG Zhaowei (APM3, China). A total of eight APU international students took part in this event.

During the CAT-G contest, four-member teams were given the task of managing a future pharmaceuticals company. As managers of their imaginary company, the participants were required to make a range of decisions surrounding their company’s research and development, sales, and management while keeping in mind market trends and any movements by their competitors. This qualifying tournament hosted twenty-three teams of international students from universities around Japan including APU, Tokyo University, Kyoto University, Hitotsubashi University, and Osaka University.

With the runner-up prize secure, “Baginga” will now move forward with their preparations for the Global Finals to be held on Sunday, December 18 in Osaka. This will be a hard-fought tournament featuring teams that have made it through domestic and international qualifying rounds. We wish “Baginga” all the best for a good performance.
