On Thursday, May 24, 2012, APU Founding President SAKAMOTO Kazuichi delivered a special lecture under the tile of “How was Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) established?”

Held every year, this APU introductory lecture covers the history of the University including how students, faculty and staff worked together to build up the university in the early stages, and also some of the problems they encountered along the way. The lecture covers the must-know background information for APU students about APU including the establishment of Asia-Pacific Studies, a new cross-discipline area of studies. This lecture helped students to learn more about the hopes and aspirations students and staff at APU and around the world have for APU, and also learn how APU came about through the support of local municipalities and the cooperation of prominent businessmen and women, and researchers.
APU’s slogan during the opening stages was “We can do it!” We hope that you can find something to be equally passionate about.
