Class Cancellations, Changes, and Make-up Days

Information regarding class cancellations, make-up classes, and classroom changes will be made available on Campus Terminal. Please be sure to check these before attending classes.

Class Cancellation

If an instructor does not appear after the class starts, please promptly inform the Academic Office. A class will be cancelled if the instructor does not arrive at the classroom within 20 minutes of the beginning of class. Classes will also be cancelled if public transportation stops due to typhoon, snow, or a strike.

Procedures for Classes during Severe Weather and / or Suspension of Public Transportation

The handling of classes in cases when a storm warning or special warning regarding the weather is issued or in cases when public transportation is suspended due to the weather are shown in the following table. The following class cancellation measures also apply during the final examination period in principle. However, as the university will make the final decision even in the following situations, students should always check notices on Campus Terminal without making the decision themselves.

<AY 2022 Fall Semester>
For the handling of classes in cases of bad weather conditions or suspension of public transportation in the AY 2022 Fall Semester, including cases that correspond to items stipulated in Article 66 of the "Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Academic Regulations", classes will be held online in principle, and courses that cannot have class online will hold make-up classes at a later date.

Class shall be cancelled A A storm warning or other special warning pertaining to weather conditions, etc. has been issued for the city of Beppu.
B All forms of public transportation stopping at the university campus have been completely canceled on all routes to and from the campus.
C There is a risk of obstruction to commuting by students and faculty/staff of the university owning to unforeseen circumstances.

Make-up Classes

As a rule, if a class is cancelled, a make-up class will be held. In principle, make-up classes will be held on the designated date. Make-up classes are usually held on Saturday, and you can confirm the designated dates from Academic Calendar. In certain circumstances, make-up classes may be held before the actual cancelled class. If a class is cancelled, please note the instruction of your faculty and the notice of Campus Terminal. Make-up class timetables will be posted on the Campus Terminal on the Tuesday prior to the make-up day. As classrooms and class times for make-up classes may differ from those of the regular class, please be sure to check the Campus Terminal.

Information on temporary or permanent classroom changes will be posted on Campus Terminal.
