About APU

Quarter System

At APU, the academic year is divided into a spring and a fall semester. These semesters are further divided into two 8-week quarters and an intensive session period. Under the quarter system, lectures are held twice per week. This allows students to take fewer classes at one time and to give more focus to their studies. To effectively improve students’ language ability, language subjects run for the entire semester and are held from 4 to 12 times per week (applied subjects are held twice per week). During the summer and Winter Sessions, APU makes use of its extensive international networks to offer intensive courses taught by Visiting Lecturers.
