From Saturday, September 13 to Monday, September 15, 2025, the High School Future Visionary Vice President and Summit Members held a training camp in Tokyo. Held on the theme of “Cycle of Relearning,” the aim of the camp was to collect information and conduct field research to deepen discussions on the ideal form of universities and the future of learning in the next generation.
On the first day, the members visited the Life Redesign College operated by Waseda University. This program is part of Waseda’s recurrent education initiatives designed mainly for working adults in their 50s and beyond, providing opportunities to return to learning in the second half of life. The high school participants observed actual classes, joined a lecture session, and engaged in discussions and presentations alongside senior-generation learners. This provided them with a valuable opportunity to witness firsthand the meaning and significance of “relearning.”
On the second day, they visited Shimokita College in Shimokitazawa—an intergenerational co-living dormitory where around 120 residents, from high school students to working professionals, live and learn together. By holding interviews with the high school residents, the members were able to explore diverse perspectives and lifestyles.
Following these experiences, the High School Future Visionary Vice President and Summit Members concluded that the first step toward realizing the “Cycle of Relearning” is to create a place where they themselves truly want to learn. They believe that if such a space expands across generations and fosters open, mutual learning, it will naturally inspire people to continue learning throughout life, thereby creating a positive cycle of learning.
The members will continue their research and discussions with a view to sharing their findings in the coming months.
