First Language and Culture Studies Tea Party

May 29, 2008

On 30th April 2008, the first Language and Culture Studies (LCS) Tea Party was held in APU Classroom F108. The tea party was held for all students of LCS and approximately 40 students ranging from first to third-year attended. LCS supervisor, APS Associate Professor IGUCHI Yufu, and Head of the LCS Institute, Ms. FUJITA Kayoko, planned this event to promote LCS as a program with a sense of unity, providing the opportunity for students to gather at the LCS Institute and deepen friendships regardless of their year of study.

First and second-year students, who wanted more information about LCS, gathered to listen enthusiastically to their seniors, the third-year students of the LCS inaugural class and the LCS faculty members, and there was a congenial atmosphere from beginning to end.

One third-year student said, "Although I occasionally had some problems and made some mistakes as a student of the inaugural class, I learned and experienced a lot on the LCS program. I participated today because I thought it was important for me to share my experiences with everyone, especially the junior students." In response to this, a junior student said, "It was very fruitful for me to be able to hear about my senior's experience directly."Another student expressed, "I listened to talks from my seniors and the faculty members from each area of LCS, and this opportunity to communicate with one another, regardless of our year, increases students' motivation."
