On Friday, October 14, 2016, Mr. Yugo Masuda of the Copyright Division of the Commissioner's Secretariat in the Agency of Cultural Affairs gave a seminar on the topic of "Copyright in Education." The seminar was held in Japanese with Japanese-to-English simultaneous interpretation.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2016, the Ritsumeikan Center for Asia Pacific Studies (RCAPS) held a symposium entitled “Asia Pacific Studies: Looking Back into the Future” to commemorate its 20th anniversary. Nearly 150 faculty, staff and students packed into H202 for the event.

APU President Shun Korenaga has been confirmed as the third keynote speaker for the 14th Asia Pacific Conference, taking place at APU November 5th (Sat) - 6th (Sun), 2016. President Korenaga specializes in Chinese language and literature and is researching the translation of modern Chinese poetry. The title of his speech will be Modern Chinese Poetry and Poetics.
