RCAPS Current Research Seminar Report “i) On the tower of extensions arising from prime power roots of a fundamental unit in real quadratic fields ii) Development of an application software for Fundamental Mathematics”

On Dec 2, RCAPS welcomed Associate Professor KOZUMA Rintaro from APU to deliver a RCAPS Current Research Seminar entitled “i) On the tower of extensions arising from prime power roots of a fundamental unit in real quadratic fields
ii) Development of an application software for Fundamental Mathematics”

[Report by Associate Professor KOZUMA (APM) as the seminar organizer]
This online seminar was held to share the research results with APU faculties and students as a part of the Academic Development Leave (ADL) in 2019. The first half of the presentation was about the field of mathematics called arithmetics, and the second half was about the “basic mathematics,” which the presenter was in charge of the classes at APU. Especially for the first half of the presentation, a small number of participants was attended as expected because it was quite unusual study field in APU although the field has been studied by many researchers for at least 400 years. Following the usual math seminar, questions and answers were implemented at any time during the presentation. There was a total of two oral questions. One was about the value of the Legendre symbol in the quadratic reciprocity law, and the other was about the mathematician introduced during the presentation.
