Institute of Science Tokyo, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, and Kyushu Institute of Technology Held Joint Hackathon, Kyutech Student Team Wins Gold Award
From March 14 to 16, 2026, a three-day joint hackathon was held at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Beppu, Oita Prefecture, bringing together students from Institute of Science Tokyo, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, and Kyushu Institute of Technology.
The hackathon was organized as a hands-on program under the theme of “Crossing Boundaries and Exchange,” encouraging students to transform their ideas into reality through intensive development over a period of three days. A total of 44 students from the three universities participated. Students formed teams across university lines and worked collaboratively to solve challenges using programming and design skills.
On the final day, teams presented their projects, which were evaluated by corporate engineers serving as judges. As a result, a team of students from Kyushu Institute of Technology won the Gold Award.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for students from diverse academic fields and cultural backgrounds to collaborate and create tangible outcomes within a short period of time. It also served as a platform for Kyutech students to demonstrate their advanced technical skills and creativity.
Kyushu Institute of Technology will continue to enhance practical learning opportunities and create new challenges for students through collaboration with external organizations and international partners.
