Project B guidance sessions will be held as follows.

A notice will be posted to the “Information” section of Campus Terminal as well as the Student Office website sometime after the May 1st guidance session with details on the updated application and screening schedule as well as the revised application guidelines.

You don’t have to be intent on applying for Project B to participate! We welcome students with only a vague interest to join in and hear more.

The Student Office is currently accepting consultation requests prior to the guidance sessions. If you would like to speak with staff about your ideas or have some of your questions answered, send an email to or message us via Facebook Messenger with multiple dates/times you are would be available for a consultation.

Dean of Student Affairs

 The Japanese government has declared a nationwide state of emergency given the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 throughout the country. In response, APU has decided to postpone the start of 1st Quarter classes until May 6th and will hold classes online for 2nd Quarter as well.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kyushu, especially in Fukuoka Prefecture, has increased dramatically and there are now over 50 confirmed cases within Oita Prefecture. Universities in Japan have been advised by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to strengthen measures to avoid the creation of a COVID-19 infection cluster on their campuses.

 In light of the current situation, APU will continue to only permit online extracurricular activities for the time being. The Fitness Room will remain closed and both student organizations and individual students will not be allowed to use university facilities. I will notify the student body about recommencing regular extracurricular activities when we reach a stage where we are able to make that decision.

 We are aware of the tremendous effort that student organizations have put into their activities and the preparations that you have been making to welcome our new students. Our decision was very difficult, yet unavoidable. We would like to ask all of you, as both APU students and global citizens, to act responsibly and prioritize your own life as well as the lives of the people in your communities right now.

 APU student organizations have not given in to limitations the current situation has placed on them and continue to be creative in their online activities. You have found wonderful ways to support our new students who have begun their university life without stepping a single foot on the APU campus and I am proud of all of you. Letʼs continue to do what we must to overcome the current hardships faced by everyone around the world.

<Extracurricular Activity Support & Event Schedule Changes>
■ The Student Office will not be open from Wednesday, April 22nd to Wednesday, May 6th. Please send any inquiries about extracurricular activities to during this period.

The Clubs/Circles Continuation Guidance will be held as follows;

* Two members from each club/circle are required to be present.
* The Student Office will not provide any follow up for the clubs/circles that do not attend this session (The office will not be able to answer any inquiries on the matters that will be discussed in the session for those clubs/circles).

Changes will be made to the Project B application and screening schedule in light of the University’s decision to cancel classes until May 6th. The Zoom guidance sessions scheduled for April 23, April 28, and April 29 have been cancelled. The new guidance schedule will be posted in the “Information” section of Campus Terminal as well as on the Student Office website once it has been decided. We apologize to those of you who had planned to participate in a guidance session and appreciate your patience until we are able to notify you of the new guidance session dates.

At present, there are approximately 78 different student organizations active at APU, in the categories of sports, academic research, culture arts, and social organizations (volunteer groups).
You are free to join any of these student organizations, or even create new ones.
If you want to join the club, please directly contact to the club. How would you like to challenge setting up a new organization in this Fall semester?
If you are interested, please read the "Establishing a New Organization" carefully and fill in the application form and submit it.
