Last academic year APU was adopted into the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s “Top Global University Project.” Under the goal of “Global Learning: Aiming for a New Horizon in University Education,” APU is advancing a variety of initiatives. The “Institute for Professional Excellence in Global Learning” is one of the pillars in the Project concept and is being established for the purpose of promoting Global Learning, both in theory and in practice. This institute will not only partner with educational institutions abroad and take on the role of training faculty and staff from APU and other universities, it will also utilize the educational experience found in APU’s multicultural environment. Aiming to become the hub for global faculty/staff development in the Asia Pacific region, including Japan, we plan to widely disseminate the Institute’s outcomes for the further benefit of all. We are holding this kickoff special lecture and workshop to inaugurate the Institute and broadcast its goals.
