〇Please tell us about your future dreams and goals that you want to contribute to society in the future, and about how you have grown in life, learning, and activities at APU.
"As I was not awarded the expected amount of tuition reduction scholarship, I started my journey in APU with extreme lack of motivation and self-confidence. The first 2 years of my university life was dark and unenjoyable. Working part-time for almost 28 hours a week and eating twice a day became a norm in order to survive financially, to lighten my parents’ burden.
Nevertheless, “giving-up” is not written in my dictionary. Motivated by the urge to support others, especially juniors, and to show APU my competency that was once underestimated, I joined several student organisations (Resident Assistant, APU Student Ambassador, Environmental Community for Sustainability), worked as Teaching Assistant and Leader TA for more than 15 different courses and programs, established the “No Plastic Bag Movement” in APU CO-OP, and initiated the establishment of Student Union.
Moreover, thanks to the financial supports from MEXT, Tokujitsu Foundation, Oita Prefectural Government, Kobayashi Foundation, and Oita Kotsu, I could focus more on my studies and other extracurricular activities.
Lastly, I would like to continue my study to pursue my dream to be a Sustainability and Environmental Studies professor who through education will change how we, humans, appreciate the Earth."
〇Please tell your idea about APU's unique and good points and how it makes you unique? (your experience (if possible)).
In my opinion, the “from student, to student” principle is the most unique point of APU. The university provides opportunities for students to be directly involved not only in learning, but also in educating activities. Students are given the opportunity to work as Teaching Assistants, Peer Advisors, Resident Assistants, and many more. From this experience, students can learn from other students, and share their experiences and expertise to others at the same time. In addition to its internationality, adaptability of its students would be a prominent specialty compared to other universities.
