ArcGIS is Geographical Information System software from ESRI. APU students and faculty members can install it on their own personal computers or use it via a browser for research or educational purposes only.

1. Requirements for Use

  • You must be an APU student or faculty member to make use of this software.
  • The software can be used for classes and non-commercial research.
  • ※It is a violation of the license agreement to use the software for commercial purposes.

Must follow APU’s Information Systems Policy when using this software.

2. How to Apply

Using ArcGIS Online (Browser Version)

ArcGIS Online uses the Microsoft365 Authentication Service. Access the ArcGIS Online Sign-in Page, click [Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University], then sign in using your APU email address and password.
You will be able to use ArcGIS Online after signing in.

Using ArcGIS (Desktop Version)

*You must use a VPN connection to use the software.

  • STEP 1: Log in to ArcGIS Online and register your account.
  • STEP 2: After logging into ArcGIS Online, apply to use My ESRI .
  • STEP 3: When the invitation email arrives, select “2. Register Account and Sign in to My ESRI” to sign in to My ESRI.
  • STEP 4: Enter [ritsapu] as the “ArcGIS Organization Site URL,” then click [Continue]
  • STEP 5: Click [Ristumeikan Asia Pacific University], then sign in
  • STEP 6: After signing in, go back to the email and click on the orange button underneath [3. To Connect to My ESRI…] to login.
  • STEP 7: After connecting you will be taken to our “Organization Profile” page. Click “Download” to download the software, and install it. See the manual for the installation procedure.

  • If you lose your APU status due to graduation, retirement, etc. you will no longer be able to use the software.
