We have been granted the UNWTO.TedQual (Tourism Education Quality) Certification, a certification system created for tourism education
institutions by the UNWTO.Themis Foundation of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) awarded TedQual accreditation to the Tourism and Hospitality area of study within the College of Asia Pacific Studies, valid for the period of April 2021 to March 2025. APU is currently in the process of transferring this accreditation to the new College of Sustainability and Tourism (ST), which will open from April 2023.
First University to Partner with Japanese National Parks
We are participating in the National Park Official Partnership Program, which is promoted by the Ministry of the Environment in cooperation with private companies and organizations
to spread the appeal of national parks to the world and to expand the number of visitors from both Japan and overseas.

Social challenges such as economic inequality and rural decline grow worse, while resource depletion, environmental contamination, and climate change threaten the globe. The College of Sustainability and Tourism focuses on building circular communities as well as on utilizing tourism to conserve resources and create value. We address humankind’s inevitable challenges of the 21st century through a two-way approach – sustainability science, which examines the development of sustainable societies, and tourism, which influences local economies and cultures.
