Book Launch Event Held for “Diversity and Inclusion in Japan: Issues in Business and Higher Education”
On Monday, March 6, Tokyo’s Foreign Correspondents' Club held an event to commemorate the publication of Diversity and Inclusion in Japan: Issues in Business and Higher Education, by the CIL director, Associate Professor SHINOHARA Yoshiki, and its managing director, Professor ALCANTARA Lailani L.
A round-table discussion took place with the author from Tsuda University and a facilitator from UK-based educational media, University World News. They discussed the challenges and current status of diversity and inclusion in Japanese society, with a particular focus on aspects such as age, gender, nationality, and disability within workplaces and educational institutions.
Professor ALCANTARA emphasized the book's goal of fostering a deeper understanding of diversity and inclusion in the context of business and education, hoping to stimulate meaningful discussions on these topics in Japan.
Associate Professor SHINOHARA stressed the importance of individuals not only feeling a sense of belonging but also having their uniqueness acknowledged and effectively utilized within organizations.
“Diversity and Inclusion in Japan: Issues in Business and Higher Education” was released as an open source book and may be viewed by anyone.
