On Thursday, January 9, 2025, as part of the mini-student exchange event between APU and Cornell University (USA), CIL’s Prof. Alcantara hosted the CIL Talk Event titled "Reviving Kimono."
We were honored to welcome Ms. Natsuko Revere Shimizu, CEO of Craftsmanship Inc., as our guest speaker. Ms. Revere Shimizu has also contributed to the CIL Research Project interviews.
During the event, Ms. Revere Shimizu delivered a lecture on the evolution of kimono from past to present, her initiatives to preserve kimono culture, and the latent economic value of kimonos.
Approximately 45 students participated, engaging with the kimonos firsthand and taking photos, while listening attentively and asking a number of questions following the lecture.
This event offered students an opportunity to learn about Japanese culture through kimonos and provided a valuable experience for cross-cultural exchange.
