English Training Program for Staff
As part of our efforts to improve staff capabilities, we have set 800 points on TOEIC (or an equivalent score) as the foreign language proficiency standard for staff. Our goal is for 44.8% of all staff to have achieved this standard by AY2023, the final year of the SGU Project. The achievement rate in 2013 was 35.8%, but it increased to 41.1% in 2015 and to 43.2% in 2016.
Improving the English proficiency of staff is critical because the English language is required to perform routine duties in most of the offices. This academic year, we are offering an English training program for staff with TOEIC scores in the 500 ~ 700 range. Fourteen staff members are currently enrolled, and once they complete the program, they will sit a TOEIC exam to measure their performance.
