The Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) Library is open to all.

Please bring a valid form of ID that shows your current address. To enter the library, you need to fill out an ' Application Form of Admission (for Library)' provided inside the library and present your ID.

The APU Library is open to members of the general public who wish to use the facility for their study or research purposes.

Eligibility

If you meet any of the following criteria ① to ③, you can apply for a library card that allows you to use and borrow materials.

• ①You must live in Oita Prefecture and be 18 years or older.
• ②You are currently enrolled in a high school or another educational institution in Oita Prefecture.
• ③You are 18 years of age or older, residing outside Oita Prefecture, yet commuting to the prefecture for work or education.

※If you are attending a school which is a member of the Kyushu Regional University Library Association, you can enter and use the library (However, you cannot check out materials) . You can access the APU library with your student or faculty ID card.

※If you don't fall under categories ① to ③ above or aren't a member of the Kyushu Regional University Library Association, you'll need a letter of referral. Please contact your university library or local public library to obtain one.

Documents required when applying for a Library Card

The following documents must be brought to the service counter by the person making the application.

• Required Identification Documents(any one of them):
  ・Residence card
  ・Driver's license
  ・Certificate of residence (issued within the last month)
  ・Health insurance card
  Please note:
  ・Passports are not accepted as valid identification.
  ・High school students must also present proof of enrollment (e.g., student handbook or student ID card) in addition to one of the above documents.
• Photocopies of the Identification document listed above (including your address)
• 1 ID photo (Any size is acceptable)
• A return envelope (with a 110 yen stamp, your name, address, and post code written)
• Library Card Application Form

Expiration date

Valid until 31st March of the following Academic Year

Please bring the above "Documents required when applying for a Library Card" to the service counter and let the service counter know that you wish to renew your library card.

• Inter-Library Loan service (referring users to other institutions or ordering books for them)
• Certain search services such as literature search on behalf of users, making inquiries to other institutions, and telephone calls on behalf of the person.
• Use external databases to search for information
• Online Library Services(Reservation of materials, checkout history, etc.)
• Requesting to purchase materials not available at APU Library.
• Use of the presentation room, group study rooms and study booths.

The following activities are prohibited in the library. Your right to use the library may be denied if you are found doing of the following:

• Watching or listening to videos and audio-tapes brought from outside the library.
• Bringing children and or infants to the library
• Smoking, eating, drinking, chatting, reading aloud in the library.
• Lending library cards or loaned materials to others.
• Conducting any annoying behavior toward other users
• Unauthorized check-out of materials from the library
• Any acts against public order and standards of decency
• Any other acts prohibited by the regulations of APU Library
