EDLSC Presents “Multicultural Collaborative Learning for an Inclusive Future” at the CIL Research Symposium at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

The CIL Research Symposium, “Empowering Women & Fostering an Inclusive Future: Practices at APU,” was held in the WA Space of the Women’s Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. The Director and Deputy Director of EDLSC gave a presentation introducing the Center’s educational initiatives.

The presentation emphasized that the role of Student Assistants (SAs) supporting first-year courses extends beyond mere academic support. The proactive support provided by SAs creates a “cycle of leadership,” which in turn inspires first-year students to become SAs themselves. Furthermore, through this system, classrooms become inclusive spaces where SAs from diverse cultural backgrounds can actively contribute and engage with one another.

These educational practices were presented through an overview of the program’s instructional design, specific examples and outcomes, and interviews with international students.
