[Report by Professor Munim Kumar Barai (APM)]
On November 10, 2023, the Honorable Indian Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri V. Muraleedharan, gave a seminar at RCAPS titled "India and the Emerging World." The speaker covered the different reasons why India is emerging as a significant force in the Asian and global arenas. India is advancing the idea of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," or "The World Is One Family," in that ascent. India showed this during the COVID-19 pandemic by donating vaccines to more than 100 countries. India's economy has grown in spite of the Covid-19 outbreak and the Ukrainian crisis. It is pursuing and supporting a free and open sea policy in the Indo-Pacific region. India hosted the G20 Summit in Delhi in 2023 with great success, and Shri Muraleedharan spoke on the country's efforts to uphold the rights of the Global South. The Minister of State then spoke about how the relationship between India and Japan has developed over time to reach its current level.
Students, staff, and researchers from APU attended the lecture in large numbers. Mr. Nikhilesh Giri, the Consulate General of India in Osaka, also attended the event.
