Reasons for Participating in the Program
For my final undergraduate thesis, I intend to research the area of social entrepreneurship. I believe that in order
to develop informed judgement and perspectives, it is not enough to simply accumulate theoretical knowledge, which
is why I applied for this field study.
The primary objective of the trip was to understand the role of international and local development actors in
Thailand and to observe their impacts. Students have the opportunity to see theories learned in the classroom play
out in real life and develop a more holistic understanding. Beyond that, getting to interact with people from a
different cultural background, alongside equally diverse classmates, was an invaluable experience for me, as it
helped me develop my intercultural skills.
It was also a great platform to build networks with institutions and individuals, such as the professors at
Thammasat University, development workers at CODI (Community Organizations Development Institute), local people, or
leaders at the World Bank and UNESCAP.
How the Program Helped You Grow
My expectations for the program were closely aligned with the objectives of the course itself. I was very excited to learn about the development scene in Thailand. Beyond that, I wanted to experience an entirely new culture and way of living. Through the course of the program, I was able to achieve all of those goals.
Message for Students Interested in The Program
The field study was a very hands-on learning experience. I would recommend that future students join the program with an open mind and a desire to learn. Other than that, make sure to interact actively with others, make new friends and enjoy Thai culture! ขอบคุณค
