Reason Why You Decided to Apply
I want to become a person who can understand different values and actively express my own ideas at APU. However, because I lacked confidence in discussions and in expressing myself, I sometimes became passive during group activities. I believed that through the fieldwork and group activities in the SECOND program, I would be able to step out of my comfort zone and develop the ability to actively engage with others. I applied for the program because I wanted to put my learning at APU into practice and grow as a person.
What do you hope to gain from participating in the program and how will you apply it to your future undergraduate studies or career?
Through the SECOND program, I learned that I should not view the world solely from my own perspective by interacting directly with people who have different cultures and religious values. In addition, through fieldwork and group activities, I realized the importance of actively communicating with others and became aware of the challenges in my English and communication skills. By making use of this experience, I hope to grow into a person who can work together with people from diverse backgrounds in the future.
Message for Students Interested in The Program
Through this program, you can develop your intercultural understanding and teamwork skills through fieldwork and group activities. In addition, working in an unfamiliar environment provided me with a valuable opportunity to reflect on both my strengths and my challenges. Although I was nervous at first, participating in the program helped me realize the importance of taking initiative and the value of experiencing different perspectives and cultures. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to challenge themselves in a new environment and grow as a person.
