Reasons for Participating in the Program
I decided to apply for the FIRST program because I found the opportunity to communicate using abilities other than language interesting. Since using translation apps is prohibited, I thought that I would be able to experience the warmth and novelty of actually talking to people. In addition, I thought the process of planning, implementing, and reflecting on a single goal would help my personal growth.
How the Program Helped You Grow
I have gained the ability to collaborate with others to reach a consensus during teamwork and the confidence to have fun and talk to people even if I am overseas. In particular, I feel that using our own skills to research and achieve our goals, since we were not allowed to use our phones, developed my sense of initiative and spirit of inquiry.
Message for Students Interested in The Program
If you aren’t sure whether or not you want to apply to FIRST, I strongly recommend applying! I believe that trying things you want to do creates more opportunities for you to show off your skills!
