Reason Why You Decided to Apply
The reason why I participated in the Indonesian regional research program was because I learned Indonesian in AP language classes. In the process of learning a language, he learned about Indonesian culture and values and became interested in Indonesia. And as I interacted with Indonesians at APU, I felt that I wanted to experience it myself and that I wanted to go to Indonesia. Out of all, I learned about the existence of this program. I applied for this program because I felt it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience their society.
What do you hope to gain from participating in the program and how will you apply it to your future undergraduate studies or career?
Through this program, I learned the importance of taking a step outside. Many international students attended APU, and I thought I had learned about the world by learning about each student's values. However, when I went out to the outside world, there was a world that I had never seen before, and even what I had learned beforehand felt fresh. It takes courage to jump into a world you don't know. If you take a step with that courage, you can expand your path indefinitely. Therefore, I want to increase my value with this mindset.
Message for Students Interested in The Program
The program will go to a different area from Japan's environment. Compared to the world you've lived in, it feels like an unknown place. In such a place, you may have a hard time or run into a big wall. However, the knowledge and experience gained in such places will reverse common sense. This program gives you such a meaningful and valuable experience. Even if you're scared, take a step first, and if you feel okay, take a step further. I look forward to continuing that and leading to great progress.
