APU Global Research Program (AGR)

  • Pursue Your Field of Specialization

Venture out into the world! A program tailored to your interests

What is the APU Global Research Program (AGR)?

The APU Global Research Program is a program that allows students to learn research methods for research topics of their own interest in each of the APS fields of study. In addition, students will actually go to the target area/region, conduct research based on the research plan, and learn the practical process of compiling the results into a research report.

What is the APU Global Research Program (AGR)?

Why AGR? Point 1
Customize the program to suite your interests!*

In a typical university program, most of the "destination," "daily itinerary and contents," "duration," and "means of transportation" are decided in advance by the university. In this program, however, only the "destination" is decided. This is a program that allows you to thoroughly learn and know about the research theme that you set based on your own interests and concerns.

*Since group activities are required during field activities, they may not necessarily reflect the interests of one individual.

Note:Due to the COVID-19 situation, for AY2022, the program starts at airport in Japan, and will travel with faculty and other program participants on flights designated and arranged by the university.

Why AGR? Point 2
Acquire practical survey and research methods.

In this program, students receive a lecture on field survey research methods from the early stage of their second year, and can actually try survey activities during the five-day practical training period. One of the appealing features of the program is that students can actually engage in field research activities related to their field of specialization, not just literature research. Students will learn basic methods for conducting sociological research, such as "how to set a research theme," "how to plan a survey," "data collection and analysis methods," and "stakeholder analysis.

Why AGR? Point 3
Full guidance in the field survey!

In this program, you will receive daily advice and confirmation of your research progress from teachers who are familiar with the local situation during the training period. With the guidance of the faculty, students will be able to learn more deeply by solving problems and conducting research surveys that they encounter in the practice of the research methodology.

Why AGR? Point 4
Enjoy on-site activities beyond the program period!

The APU Global Research Program adopts a local meeting and local dissolution system. This allows students to visit other countries and sites before and after the program training period. This allows students to delve deeper into their own research questions and continue their field activities without being restricted by time constraints.

*APU holds no responsibility for activities outside the program period.

Note:Due to the COVID-19 situation, for AY2022, the program starts at airport in Japan, and will travel with faculty and other program participants on flights designated and arranged by the university.
