If you're studying at one of our exchange partner universities, you can join us in London for a semester or year as an exchange student. Established in 1838, the University of Westminster has been a part of London life for over 150 years. We first opened in 1838 as the 'Regent Street Polytechnic', with the aim of bring education and new skills to the working masses. Many of our modules still hold this ethos today, with an emphasis on practical skills not just theory. Our university was the site of the very first moving picture in the UK and we were one of the first universities to offer a photography degree. We official became the University of Westminster in 1992.
