Our location allows students to have exotic experience in various areas such as downtown or beautiful rural area as well. Based on its infrastructure, Sookmyung Women’s University is growing as a university that coexists with the local community.

Sookmyung Women’s University is the Korea’s first national private women’s school. It was founded in 1906 by Royal Family during the latter stages of the Korean empire, one of the most difficult periods in the nation’s history. We have worked diligently to meet the university’s fundamental motto ‘save our nation through women’s education’ and today, we boast over 100,000 alumni and 13,000 students and have grown to become Korea’s leading women’s university. Throughout its more than 110 year history, Sookmyung has accumulated invaluable educational experience, research capabilities and community service experience. We plan to build on this tradition and become a global leader in women’s education. Sookmyung has recently been selected as a leading University for its contribution to high school education. Sookmyung has also been selected for the Program for Industrial Needs-Matched Education(PRIME) in the large-scale category. Sookmyung will take a leap forward towards a new era, aiming at becoming the best leadership-oriented university in the world. Sookmyung was selected for IPP-type work and study project support in 2015 and selected as a ‘Leading University in Career and Employment Support’ in the Seoul area in 2017. With #1 in employment rate among women’s Universities, Sookmyung Women’s University introduced the ‘Work Experience Development Office’ in 2017 to take charge of employment support through a customized support system for different year groups, too.
