Thank you very much for your generous support of our challenge. With your kind contribution, we were able to participate as the APU student team “Onsen2Tamago” in the Corning Case Competition 2025, organized by the Cornell Emerging Markets Institute, and gain invaluable learning experiences and meaningful outcomes.

This competition is one of the world’s leading international case competitions, focusing on sustainability, social impact, and strategic decision-making, and addressing complex business and policy challenges faced by emerging markets. The 2025 edition was the largest and most competitive to date, with 1,341 participants from 79 universities across 21 countries, competing in 294 teams.

Amid this highly competitive environment, our team successfully advanced through multiple selection rounds and ultimately achieved third place overall. Following APU’s second-place finish in the previous year, this result marks APU’s second consecutive top-three placement in the competition. Maintaining such a high level of performance in a year with a significantly increased number of participants demonstrates the strong international competitiveness and practical learning environment of the APU community.

This year’s case focused on a fictional vaccine manufacturing company based in South Africa and challenged teams to consider how vaccines could be delivered reliably and affordably to those who need them most. We were required to develop a comprehensive strategy addressing issues such as establishing stable production systems, strengthening supply chains, balancing affordability with business viability, responding to regulatory requirements, and ensuring equitable vaccine access across Africa and global markets. Through extensive research and analysis of healthcare systems in Africa, global vaccine markets, and emerging market dynamics, we developed a realistic and sustainable proposal. Presenting our final solution at Cornell University in New York allowed us to significantly strengthen our ability to identify core issues in complex and uncertain environments, design solutions that balance feasibility with long-term impact, and communicate our ideas clearly and persuasively to an international panel of judges.

Participation in this competition also provided us with a valuable opportunity to reflect on how corporate decision-making in emerging markets can influence public health outcomes and the realization of sustainable societies. This experience broadened our perspectives and deepened our commitment to addressing social challenges through thoughtful and responsible approaches.

Moving forward, we hope to share the knowledge and experience gained through this competition with the wider APU community. By mentoring junior students and organizing knowledge-sharing opportunities for future case competition teams, we aim to contribute to the continued growth of APU and to support the next generation of challengers.

Once again, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your generous support. Your contribution made our challenge possible and guided us toward profound learning and growth. Thank you very much.
