【Supported project】Students' Action Support

This time, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your generous support. Thanks to your kindness, I was able to advance through the regional selection process and participate in the “ASEAN–Japan Youth Voices for Climate Resilience (AYO Japan Research Competition),” where I had the valuable opportunity to present a proposal focused on environmental improvement.

In this project, I explored how ASEAN–Japan cooperation can contribute to addressing the challenges of unsustainable coffee production systems, based on renewable, circular, and youth-led perspectives. Emphasizing the connection between policy and business, the research aligned with Japan’s Green Food System Strategy (“Midori Plan”) and existing ASEAN–Japan cooperation frameworks, while addressing complex issues such as environmental degradation, farmers’ vulnerability, and waste management. In particular, the proposal highlighted the potential of linking coffee grounds waste generated in Japan with regenerative agriculture in the ASEAN region, aiming to contribute to improved farmer incomes and the creation of ethical and sustainable market access.

The research presentation was delivered in front of policymakers, ambassadors, representatives of Japanese youth organizations working on climate change, and staff members of the ASEAN–Japan Centre. The social significance and future potential of the proposal were highly appreciated, leading to strong recognition in the competition and the opportunity to be selected as part of a youth-led initiative supported by the ASEAN–Japan Centre.

I am also very pleased to share that from March 2026, I will be involved in activities with the ASEAN–Japan Centre Secretariat and its program-related work. Going forward, I hope to further develop the research and proposals and contribute to efforts that connect academic outcomes with real-world policies and practical initiatives.

The support provided through the APU Alumni Association Mirai Sōzō Donation Fund has been a vital source of encouragement for me to take this next step. I am deeply grateful for your trust and support, which continue to inspire me to walk forward as a changemaker contributing to Japan, Southeast Asia, and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
