Overview of the Program

The Overseas Student Exchange Program sends students overseas to study at a partner university for six months or one year. At their host university, students primarily take regular curriculum courses to complement their specialization. Students continue paying APU tuition fees without paying additional tuition fees to their host university and begin their exchange one year after submitting an application. Classes conducted in English are also available at partner universities in non-English-speaking countries.

Experiences Unique to Exchange at a Host University

Although APU has a diverse campus, there are some things students can only learn at an overseas host university. When you break out of your routine and experience something totally new, your outlook on life will change dramatically.

Diverse Exchange Destinations

When you hear the word “exchange”, you may immediately think of Europe or America. However, at APU, we offer a host of exchange programs in over 150 universities from 43 countries in interesting locations such as Asia, Oceania, and even Africa.

Opportunities to Further Your Education

Even when studying the same topic, if the environment, culture, and history of the place you study in differs, your point of view on the topic will change. When students learn to think in multi-faceted ways, it can also benefit their studies post-exchange.

Overseas Student Exchange Program [2026 Fall Departure]

We are recruiting students to participate in the 2026 Fall Departure Overseas Student Exchange Program.
If you would like to participate, please read the application guidelines carefully before applying.

Program Length	1 semester or 1 year	Program Timing	AY2026 Fall Semester (1 semester exchange) AY2026 Fall Semester and AY2027 Spring Semester (1 year exchange)

Acquired Skills/Abilities	Self Management Autonomy Specialized Knowledge
Program fee	None (excluding travel expenses, rent, insurance, living expenses etc.)
Number of Participants	Differs depending on the host university	Application Period	(1st Round) After the application guidance session – October 27, 2025 (Mon) (2:00 PM JST) (2nd Round) November 21, 2025 (Fri) – December 15, 2025 (Mon) (10:00 AM JST)
Eligibility	・Must be 2nd – 5th semester students at the time of application ・Must have a semester GPA 2.00 or above ・Must not be from the country or region of the host university ・Must fulfill the requirements set by the host university * There are other application requirements. Please check the Application Information for details.

One-on-one consultations are available in-person or over Zoom. You may choose from two types of consultations: a consultation with a Student Exchange Coordinator from the Outreach and Research Office, or a consultation with a Student Exchange Advisor (SEA).
