Fukouji Temple makes Generous Aid Donation to International Students

Mar 17, 2009

In March, 2009, Resident Monk MAKI Kenji of the Fukouji Temple (located in Bungoono City, Oita Prefecture and renowned for its hydrangea flowers) made a generous donation of international exchange aid funds as part of their missionary work to support international students who are facing financial difficulty due to the global credit crisis and high value of the yen.On Wednesday March 11, Dean of Student Affairs Professor YOKOYAMA Kenji and 2 APU faculty staff paid a visit to Fukouji Temple.
This kind offer was made by the Resident Monks after hearing about the troubles facing international students in Oita Prefecture through the media and came about through the Head of the Oita Prefecture Shingonshuu Religious Affairs Branch Office and Usa City Shingonshuu Dairakuji Temple Resident Monk ANDO Chishou.

We plan to make good use of this generous donation by appropriating it to fund international student scholarships. We are very thankful for such support and cooperation.
