May 8, 2008

The Global Business Leader Development Program (GBLP), part of the 'Career Development Program' commissioned by the Ministry of Education (MEXT) and Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry, is continuing from last year into 2008.

The opening ceremony for the five new GBLP students was held on April 8th 2008. To mark the commencement of this program, project leader Professor Kenji YOKOYAMA gave an encouraging message to students expressing his hopes and expectations of each student.

Applications for prospective GBLP candidates are now being accepted for Fall 2008. We currently welcome applications from both new students and students wishing to transfer into the 2nd and 3rd years of the course from overseas. See below for more details.

RECRUITMENT FOR THE GLOBAL BUSINESS LEADERS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

This year sees the continuation of APU's 2007 Global Business Leader Development Program (GBLP), part of the 'Career Development Program' commissioned by the Ministry of Education (MEXT) and Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry. This program aims to develop the Japanese Economy by recruiting excellent students with a desire to work in Japanese companies. In addition to undertaking the general curriculum offered at APU, program students will study a number of subjects unique to the course (amounting to 16 credits) in their 3rd and 4th years.

Applications are currently being accepted for Fall 2008 from transfer students and new students alike. Fall transfer students enter into the 2nd or 3rd years of the program, and 2nd year transfer students and new 1st year students are regarded as GBLP candidates. These candidates then become program students from the 3rd year of the course. As Government sponsored international students, 3rd and 4th year students receive a monthly stipend of 126,000 Japanese Yen (for 2008) and are exempt from having to pay tuition fees.

Those students wishing to apply for the program are required to send their APU Application Form, GBLP Application Form and Application Essay to the APU Admissions Office. The deadline for application is Friday May 16th (the application period has been extended).

Furthermore, we are able to accept applications from transfer students entering on an English language basis providing they have an intermediate level of Japanese corresponding to Level 2, 240 or Level 3, 320 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
